Common 50th Anniversary Reunion Questions

We’ll add to this as new questions come up, so check back here if you think of new questions.

  • Who’s going to be there?
    • The Registry page has the most current list of guys who have sent it their RSVP deposit. You can also click on the database button there to find all of the emails that we have tracked down so far. Feel free to reach out to old friends and encourage them to join you at the reunion.
  • How’s the $money$ work?
    • $50 RSVP Deposit – Think of this as the social fee. This is so that we have some funds to get everything planned, put down payments on things, pay for long lead keepsakes (think glassware, deck of cards, that kind of stuff), appetizers at the Meet-n-Greet, and some light continental breakfast options in the mornings.
    • $25/pp Anniversary Dinner – We are planning a large banquet dinner to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the chartering of the Tau Phi chapter. Quoted per plate cost from the Seneca Lodge is $35, but we are going to use the RSVP deposit to cover the first $10 and ask for $25 ($50 for couples) to cover the dinner. Choices are Beef/Chicken/Pasta, more detailed description of each choice to follow, as soon as we get it from the Lodge. Stay tuned for more info in the future.
    • $95 – $110 per night Rooms – If you choose to stay at the Seneca Lodge, you can expect to get a room in this price range. You can always share a room to reduce costs, or venture off site for a more upscale hotel room in Watkins Glen. Rooms are on you, so you’ll need to call 607-535-2014 to make your own reservations.
    • $?? Daytime Outings – We expect that several different outings will be planned for during the days on Friday and Saturday. These will likely be planned by individuals who have a good idea and are motivated to take on the planning and execution (like you). As these events are worked out, we’ll get info and costs posted onto the website.
  • When is the Anniversary Dinner?
    • Saturday night for the big dinner. Details are still subject to change, but we will always keep the latest info up on the website, so add this site to your favorites.
  • Can I plan an outing?
    • Absolutely! Reach out to someone on the planning committee with your idea and let them know your willing to organize it. We’ll want to make sure there is no overlap, so if someone else is already working on it, we may just put you in touch with them. After all, we probably don’t need more than one Golf Outing (it’s November in NY!) or Wine Tour.
  • COVID Info:
    • We plan on following all Federal, State, and/or local guidelines regarding convening large groups, and will keep everyone up to date on any changes leading up to event.  If they let us have it, we’re planning on doing it as safely as possible!
    • Some actions to consider before heading up to party:
      • If unvaccinated, have your doc swab you for the ‘rona before touching down in Watkins glen… why not?  Your 34 Church St. basement immunity has long since worn off.
      • Get the jab… come on, most of your friends are doing it.
      • If exposed before heading up, do the right thing…
  • Who is this?
    • Inital legwork, location identification, date selection, website development, and outreach was done by this planning committee.
